Rural Insight Land & Development is a firm of rural surveyors based in Leicestershire, near Melton Mowbray.

Nico had previously done some photography work for RILD, both for their public adverts and for their personal LinkedIn pages and company documentation.

James got in touch when the company expanded and added a Development department to the existing Land Management service, resulting a rebrand and new company name.

It wasn’t to be a big build in terms of pages but there were some specific requirements that the team were keen on, the first of which being a bespoke design which looked modern and worked fast, and didn’t resemble so many of the other surveying firms out there. RILD employed the services of a specialist PR firm in Nottingham to create a new set of logos and include a colour scheme. This helps us with our web design because we can build in the brand guidelines from the start and include the colours as part of a standard palette used throughout the site.

The web site included a Team page to boost the personal side of the business, put faces and roles to names, and allow for connections to each member’s LinkedIn page. This involved a new custom post type for team members with custom fields for their role and LinkedIn URL, as well as a featured image. This makes adding a new team member as easy as filling in a small form and uploading a photo. Clicking on a team member pops-up a modal with a small biography of that team member.

Each department within the firm needed a page which would conform to a specific template to keep them similar. Within that page each department wanted to list case studies to highlight the work they do, both completed and ongoing. This time a Case Study custom post type was needed, which didn’t need any custom fields as the content was essentially just an article, but it did need taxonomies for which department each case study was relevant to, and whether the project was finished or not. We created two carousels on each department page, one for completed projects and another for ongoing ones. Clicking on a case study brings up a specific template page for that project, giving more information.

We created a custom theme within WordPress and host the site from our Litespeed server in London. There are two forms within the site, both customised to suit their needs, and both retaining the contents of any submission as a backup in the event of the email being deleted.
